The Waterville Fire-Rescue Department is currently seeking applicants for the positions of:



Call Firefighter

There is a great deal of responsibility and commitment that goes with being a call firefighter.  You need to have a willingness to work hard and train even harder. You have to want to be one of the best.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (proof of age will be required upon hiring).
  • Must have a valid drivers' license for operating in the state of Maine.
  • Must reside within fifteen (15) miles (driving distance) of Central Fire Station.
  • Must have transportation available for responding to calls.

HIRING PROCESS:

  • Submit completed application and resume to the Waterville Fire-Rescue Department.
  • Interview with the Waterville Fire-Rescue Department interview team.
  • Complete and pass a physical examination and Respiratory Protection Program.
  • Pass a Background check.

Upon acceptance, the applicant will be issued a pager, boots, bunker pants, coat, gloves, nomex hood, and a helmet, and be assigned to a Call Company. At the first opportunity, the "Rookie" Firefighter will be enrolled in Rookie School.

To obtain permanent status on the Call Firefighter Force, the "Rookie" Firefighter will have to:

  • Successful completion of Rookie School.
  • Successful completion of the Maine State Firefighter I "End Test".
